Manolete Exhibition

From 6 to 8 December, the Espai Cultural El Convento hosted an exhibition dedicated to Manolete, one of the most iconic and controversial figures in Spanish bullfighting. The exhibition allowed visitors and enthusiasts to explore the life and legend of this bullfighter from Córdoba, renowned both for his artistry in the ring and for the stories and myths that have surrounded his figure over the years.

Who was Manolete?

Manuel Laureano Rodríguez Sánchez, better known as Manolete, was a Spanish bullfighter born in Córdoba in 1917. He is regarded as one of the greatest names in the history of bullfighting, with a sober and daring style that defined an era in post-war Spain. His tragic death in 1947, after being gored by the bull Islero in Linares, shocked the entire country and cemented his status as a bullfighting legend.

The exhibition brought together key aspects of his career, his cultural impact, and some of the debates that his figure has generated over time.
