Masía del Río (River Farmhouse)

Between Water and History

Next to the river Palancia, the Fuente del Río (N39.90480 W0.61012), now dry, was a key point in its day. After crossing the bridge, we find the current Masía del Río, with two inhabited houses and agricultural buildings: one next to the river (N39.90460 W0.61054) and the other near the Camino de la Mezquetilla.

 

The remains of the old 19th century farmhouse, in ruins, and the Fábrica de Luz (N39.90241 W0.60957) - used as a mill until the 1980s - tell us of a past of rural ingenuity, a place where the murmur of the water wrote its history!
