Viver shines during the first days of the festivities in honour of Saint Francis of Paola. There is a magnificent bonfire and rice dish dedicated to the saint, mascletás (fireworks displays), fireworks, religious celebrations with a procession, shows and dances with the enthusiastic participation of locals and visitors alike.

Report on the ‘Reading is a right!’ conference in ViverAsk, affirm, exclaimViver, 21 June, twelve-four in the morning. Today, or rather yesterday, summer began. Outside, the white waters have stopped flowing. Or perhaps I have stopped listening to them. Twelve-six, twelve-seven. I feel the rough texture of the ground on the soles of my feet and realise that this is the first time all day that I have been aware of that part of my body. I have hardly walked today; all my effort has been concentrated at the other end: in my head, which has been busy taking in, assimilating, noting down and summarising what has been said here, during the second ‘Reading is a right’ conference. I realise that I only thought about my feet (which I didn't feel) once all day, just before leaving home. I checked the weather forecast before choosing my shoes; it looked like rain. Max Aub pasa en Viver el verano de 1935, de junio a septiembre, como se veraneaba antes. El verano del 36 no vienen a Viver porque Perpétua Barjau, mujer de Max, estaba embarazada. Dio a luz a Carmen, su tercera hija a finales de julio. Con anterioridad al verano del 35 veraneaban el Las Arenas en Valencia. La enfermedad pulmonar de su hija Elena es la razón por la que los médicos aconsejan a Max un clima más seco y una mayor altitud. En un principio eligen el balneario “El Paraíso” de Manzanera, pero no tardan en cambiar su destino vacacional por Viver. Las razones para el cambio parecen claras. En 1914 cuando estalla la primera guerra mundial, la familia Aub-Mohrenwitz, de origen judío, emigran a Valencia y fijan allí su residencia
