DUKE OF CALABRIA

The Duke of Calabria, Ferdinand of Aragon, was the third husband of Queen Germana de Foix and Viceroy of Valencia. His relationship with Viver has to do with the health benefits of the place, as he frequented the town fleeing from the great plague epidemics that devastated Valencia (and all of Europe) at the time and was a neighbour of the place for long periods of time.

LA TEJA

La Teja fountain owes its name to the fact that its spout was actually a tile, through which the water flowed. It already had that name 500 years ago, and the tile was still there until not so long ago. The new pipe bears the inscription with the date 1828.

La Teja does not originate here; the source is in the area known as La Chorrera, from where it is channelled to the fountain and the town centre. The irrigation channel that runs from one side of the street to the other with the water from La Teja was used as a washing place until 1965.
